Companies that want to test their LED products for efficiency or how bright their products shine but don’t have the equipment in-house now have an opportunity to conduct testing in Arizona. Avnet, a business-to-business technology distributor, recently opened a 900 square-foot light lab in Chandler for Avnet customers to use throughout the engineering process to give them measurements needed for product development. The light lab has the ability to test general, medical, military, transportation, industrial and many other LED applications.
Bryan Brody, vice president of Vertical Markets, Avnet Electronics Marketing, said on YouTube that the demand for LED lighting is “explosive” now, thanks to consumer awareness, technological advances and lowered costs. The state-of-the-art equipment in the light lab will allow companies to see exactly how products will perform before applying for certifications, which can cost a lot of money if the product is returned to the company with needed modifications. Avnet customers that have their own “light labs” can even validate their results by testing their products at this lab. We’ll be sure to stay tuned to news coming out to the lab – who knows what manufacturers have up their sleeves in there!
